Great Oaks Academy, of Warren, is proud to offer an outstanding full-day Kindergarten program! Our program includes Open Court reading and language arts instruction, Lucy Calkins writing, Saxon math, science and social studies. Great Oaks students will also participate in monthly moral focus activities which encourage students to become outstanding young individuals. Our students benefit from a day filled with enjoyable learning activities which include reading, singing, movement and hands-on activities designed to enhance your child’s education.
Kindergarten students will participate in art, music, physical education, library/technology and Spanish classes once per week. Field trips are taken within the Warren area neighborhood to give students an idea of the surrounding community and to boost their understanding of ideas being taught. If needed, after-school child care is offered by Tee Tee’s Place at the school. In addition, there are after-school activities/clubs offered to students throughout the year. Kindergarten students at Great Oaks Academy are encouraged to explore the many wonders school has to offer!

Kimberly Snay
"My name is Kimberly Snay. I am a graduate of the University of Detroit Mercy. I have a 9-year-old son currently in the fourth grade. We are a small family, but share our love with our many extended family members and household pets. I have been a teacher for nearly nine years and have also had many great experiences as a nanny and tutor. I thoroughly enjoy teaching, especially kindergarten. Their eagerness to learn and excitement at the start of a new day, brings a smile to my face. I am privileged to be a part of their educational journey."
Amy Zizelman
"My name is Amy Zizelman and this is my third year at Great Oaks Academy. I received my degree in Elementary Education from Oakland University and I am finishing up my Master's Degree in Curriculum, Assessment, and Instruction from Marygrove College. I teach kindergarten because I love having the privilege of being the first memory students have in school. I love the enthusiasm, love, and curiosity they bring to school every day. Besides the love I have for my students, I also spend a great deal of time with my family. I am a new mom and that is the best job in the world. I have been with my husband, Dan, for 10 years and we have been married for 3 years. We have a 9-month-old daughter, Aubrey, and she is the love of our life. We also have a 3-year-old dog named Bailey, we call him Aubrey's brother. I am honored to be part of the Great Oaks team and a kindergarten teacher!"
Kristy Taylor
"My name is Kristy Taylor. I was married to Wesley in August, 2008 and had our first child, Zavier Andrew in September, 2009. I have a 4-year-old step-daughter, Dahlia, a family dog, Marley, and many fish. I received my degree in Elementary Education from Concordia University, Ann Arbor and my Master's Degree in Reading and Language Arts and Early Childhood Education from Oakland University. Kindergarteners' enthusiasm to be in school and learn new things is one of the biggest reasons I love teaching kindergarten. I have always wanted to be a teacher and young children make me want to spend every day helping them to learn!"
